Chaotic transport

How does chaotic transport D(K) depart from the quasilinear law across the whole kick range — where is it suppressed, and where does it turn anomalous?

▶ Launch the interactive simulation

How the lab tests it

Sweep K; at each value estimate D from the per-orbit Δp² spread two ways — the outlier-fed MEAN and a robust de-biased MEDIAN — and plot both as ratios to the quasilinear K²/4.

What it looks for

the three regimes the bare K²/4 hides: KAM-tori suppression (K≲1), the quasilinear sea (D≈K²/4), and accelerator-mode spikes at K=2πm where the mean and the robust estimate split
